In the film The secret Life of Mitty directed by Ben Stiller one character who learned his lesson about life these three lessons that  Walter learned about is life is about taking risk by going on an adventure , Walter learns to focus when he misses out on something important  , Walter stands up for him self when his boss does not treat him right. The directors attention is to show us that every one has different meanings to life. Sometimes in life you need to take risks and that you have to go on an adventure to see the what the world has and lastly you have to be focused to see be aware of the important things.

The first life lesson Walter learns is to take risks. Walter does not seem to take any risks and chooses to spend every day relatively the same. As the movie goes on Walter decides that he has to travel to Greenland, this was Walters first step to taking a risk and changing his boring normal day. After this Walter starts taking more and more risks like jumping on to the helicopter with a drunk pilot and during that scene a sense of accomplishment was felt by the viewers and facial expressions and exiting music told us that Walter couldn’t believe what he had just done. As the movie comes to an end Walter realises that taking a risk changed him and made Walter have more self confidence and he could say that he had done stuff in life. Him taking a risk made him able to stand up for himself against Ted and it gave him the guts to to finally ask out Cheryl.

Secondly Walter learns to focus in life because when his mum told him something important he was not paying attention. This is shown when Walter asked him if by any chance did Sean come by and use your camera and Walters mum says ” I was telling you the other day supermarket but you were in your  own world or something” this is when Walter decides to wake up and learn to pay attention . This tells us that Walter missed out something important and he just lost one of the easy chances to ask where negative 25 might be. Another example is when Walters boss was asking Walter something important and Walters boss was snapping his fingers trying to get his attention this is shown through a close up of Walters boss Ted trying to get his attention. This tells us that even when the important people are in front of Walter he still enters his own world. The directors intention is to show us that Walter is a daydreamer and that when he missed out on getting some important information he decides to wake up. The viewer can learn that you have to we awake and pay attention to hear the goods things in life.

Towards the end of the film Walter learns an important life lesson, he learns to stand up for himself because all throughout his life he has been pushed around and he has been taking too much grief from other people such as his boss Ted. Walter stands up to Ted towards the end of the film because Ted has been giving Walter unreachable deadlines for the 25 and bullying Walter which results in Walter standing up for himself and telling Ted what he thinks about life magazine and what he thinks about Ted, in this scene Walter explains that there is more to the cover of life magazine, he says that life magazine should be about the people who made it, not just the cover and the boss who manages it. To show the effect of Teds sudden realisation and understanding of what Walter had said to him the director (Ben stiller also known as Walter Mitty) uses a close up to show Teds emotion and understanding to what has happened. The directors attention is to show us that

In the film The secret Life of Mitty one character who learned his lesson about life these three lessons that  Walter learned about is life is about taking risk by going on an adventure in Iceland and Greenland , Walter learns to focus when he misses out on something important which was negative 25 , Walter stands up for him self when his boss does not treat him right and Ted treating him like a little child.
